Roadrunners Baseball Recaps March 26-28

March 26 St. Louis Community College at St. Louis

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners were swept by the St. Louis Community College Archers 8-7 in walk-off fashion and 13-8 in a doubleheader on Friday, March 26 in St. Louis. The games were part of the Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams.

In game one, freshman infielder Austin Warkins of Haysville, Kansas registered three hits, including two doubles, a home run, drove in three runs, and scored twice. Sophomore catcher Dylan Thompson of Camdenton also had three hits, including a home run, two RBI, and scored twice. Redshirt sophomore outfielder Tommy Ruether of Washington also scored a pair of runs.

Sophomore pitcher Andrew Clark of Belton got the start on the mound for the Roadrunners. Clark pitched two innings and gave up six hits and seven runs, six of which were earned. Redshirt sophomore pitcher Will Knight of Sedalia pitched 4 1/3 innings in relief. Knight allowed one run on six hits, struck out three, and recorded the loss.

In game two, freshman infielder Brandon Stahlman of Washington, Missouri had three hits, scored once, and one RBI. Thompson had a pair of hits, including a grand slam. Redshirt sophomore infielder Seth Kamykowski of Buffalo, Missouri had a double, a home run, scored two runs, and drove in two runs.

Sophomore pitcher Peyton Seiz of Holden got the start for SFCC. Seiz pitched two innings and gave up five runs on seven hits. Freshman pitcher Tucker Nunnenkamp of Lee's Summit picked up the loss in relief pitching 1 2/3 innings, allowing five runs, only one of which was earned on three hits.

March 28 St. Louis Community College at Sedalia

SFCC (9-12, 4-6 in Region 16, 3-5 in the MCCAC) split a pair of Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference games, losing the first game 8-2 before bouncing back to win the second game 11-6 on Sunday, March 28 at Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field.

In game one, the SFCC offense was held to just two runs on six hits. Freshman infielder/outfielder Jacob McWhirter of Guelph, Ontario hit a home run in the game. Warkins also drove in a run in the contest.

Freshman pitcher Roy Holcomb of St. Joseph got the start on the mound for SFCC. Holcomb pitched four innings, gave up three runs on five hits, and struck out three. Holcomb was given the pitching loss.

In game two, McWhirter continued had three hits, two of which were home runs, and drove in five. Stahlman had a pair of hits, including a double and scored twice. Thompson hit a home run, scored twice, and three RBI. Ruether hit a home run and drove in a pair of runs. Redshirt sophomore infielder Clayton Meyer of Sedalia also scored two runs.

Sophomore pitcher Connor Barnes of Boonville got the start on the mound for SFCC. Barnes pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four runs on five hits. Sophomore Rylie Rokusek of Holden came out of the bullpen to pick up the victory.  Rokusek pitched 6 2/3 innings, giving up two runs, on six hits, and struck out three.
