The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners soccer team lost a Region 16 match by a score of 5-2 to Metropolitan Community College (MCC) on Wednesday, September 18 at the Fred E Davis Sports Complex in Sedalia.
MCC scored first with less than 36 minutes remaining in the opening half. MCC would score again with less than a minute left in the opening half and added another goal with about 36 minutes to go in the game. MCC scored another goal about a minute later to make the score 4-0.
SFCC (0-7, 0-3 in Region 16) scored with about 24 minutes to go in the contest, with a goal from freshman Ella Smith off an assist from freshman Lucca Berman.
MCC added their final goal to make the score 5-1 with less than 23 minutes to go in the contest.
Smith scored her second goal in the contest off another assist from Berman with less than five minutes to go in the game.
"I thought our performance was much improved, but there are things that we still need to work on," said Head Coach Michael Poropat. "We have some really good players; I don't think they realize how good they are. Our physical fitness needs to improve. We need to build on the positives going forward. We must keep working and eventually the first win will come."
Freshman Grace Eidson got the start in goal for SFCC.
