Lady Roadrunners soccer season continues

September 11 St. Charles Community College at Cottleville

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners soccer team lost 6-0 to 15th-ranked St. Charles Community College in Cottleville on Wednesday, September 11. The game was part of the Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams.

St. Charles scored four goals in the first half to take the lead into halftime. SFCC held St. Charles to a pair of goals late in the second half.

Freshman Grace Eidson got the start in goal for SFCC.

September 15 Missouri Valley College at Sedalia

SFCC (0-6, 0-2 in Region 16) fell 3-1 in an exhibition match against Missouri Valley College inside the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex in Sedalia on Sunday, September 15.

Missouri Valley got on the scoreboard with about 20 minutes remaining in the opening half to take a 1-0 lead in the contest. The Lady Roadrunners tied the game at one with a goal from freshman Anna Marti, courtesy of an assist from freshman Emma Routh with about 26 minutes remaining opening half.

"I was very happy for Anna, it was a fantastic goal," said Head Coach Michael Poropat. "She works hard every day, always has a smile and a great attitude. She is a fantastic person and a good player."

 The match remained tied at one until Missouri Valley scored with 26 minutes and 24 seconds remaining in the contest.

Missouri Valley scored another goal off a free kick with less than five minutes remaining in the contest.

"We were able to play everyone in the game who was available," said Poropat. "The biggest area of improvement for our women's team is that we need to improve our fitness level. We have to improve our fitness in order to compete for 90 minutes."

Eidson got the start in goal for SFCC.
