August 22 Kansas City Kansas Community College in Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners soccer team lost to the 15th-ranked team in NJCAA Division I Kansas City, Kansas (KCK) Community College 6-0 in their season home opener on Thursday, August 22 at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex.

KCK scored the opening goal of the match with about 38 minutes remaining in the opening half. They would add another goal with less than 35 minutes to go until halftime and held a 2-0 lead at halftime.

KCK added four more goals in the second half to provide the winning margin.

As a team, the Lady Roadrunners recorded three shots. Freshman Grace Eidson got the start in goal for SFCC and made 15 saves.

"Kansas City, Kansas is an excellent team," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Michael Poropat." They are going to win many games this year. I wish them all the best. We thought we were ready, maybe now we understand that there's a whole new level that we need to get to in terms of physical fitness and the psychological part of the game in order to be ready to compete at the collegiate level."

August 24 Western Iowa Tech Community College at Sedalia

SFCC (0-2) fell 10-1 to Western Iowa Tech at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex in Sedalia on Saturday, August 24 in Sedalia.

Western Iowa took control of the game early with four first half goals. SFCC got on the scoreboard with a goal with about 16 minutes and 35 seconds remaining in the second half from Miah Bult.

Eidson and freshman Margo Karpenchuk shared time in goal for SFCC.

"It was a tough match," Poropat. "We have some work to do. Once our fitness improves, the results will improve."
