Lady Roadrunners tie program record

Sept. 15 Jefferson College at Hillsboro, Missouri

The 19th ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners picked up a 1-0 overtime victory over the Jefferson College Lady Vikings in Hillsboro, Missouri on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 15.

"We had a lot of opportunities," said Lady Roadrunners Soccer Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "Both teams play a similar style. We had to become the aggressor, which is not our usual style, but we were able to get it done."

Freshman midfielder Ally Woolery gave SFCC the victory with a goal early in the first overtime, taking a shot from outside the box courtesy of a pass from freshman midfielder Andrea Ramirez.

Woolery and freshman forward Sabra Moon tied for the team lead in shots with three each.

Freshman goalkeeper Savannah Romero got the start in the goal for the Lady Roadrunners and recorded one save.

Sept. 18 St. Louis Community College at St. Louis, Missouri

SFCC fell to 13th ranked St. Louis Community College 2-0 on Saturday, Sept. 18 in St. Louis, Missouri.

St. Louis got on the scoreboard with a goal in the 35th minute. St. Louis scored again in the 54th minute to finish the game.

"It was a pretty even game," said Beltran. "St. Louis took advantage of the opportunities that they had, and we did not."

Woolery led the team in shots with three, one was on target.

Romero made three saves in the start at goal for the Lady Roadrunners.

Sept. 21 Metropolitan Community College at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex

The 18th ranked Lady Roadrunners defeated Metropolitan Community College 2-1 at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Both teams struggled offensively early, as neither team could get on the scoreboard. SFCC opened the second half with a goal from freshman forward Briscia Zuniga with less than two minutes gone. Zuniga found the back of the net once again with less than 27 minutes remaining in the contest.

Metropolitan Community College scored with less than 11 minutes remaining, but SFCC held on to secure the important victory. With this win, the Lady Roadrunners tied the program record for victories in a season.

Romero got the start in net for SFCC.

"Our team played well and come up with a pair of goals," said Beltran. "We were able to tie our program record for wins today, so we are pretty happy about that - hoping for more."
