Women’s Soccer Recaps April 12-14

April 12 St. Louis Community College at Sedalia

The 17th ranked State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners lost a heartbreaking 1-0 game to St. Louis Community College in double overtime on Monday, April 12 at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex in Sedalia.

St. Louis broke through in the second overtime with a goal to secure the victory with about four minutes remaining.

Forward Sabra Moon of Sedalia registered three shots, two of which were on goal. Forward Carly Roberts of Higginsville had two shots, one of which was on goal. Goalkeeper Savannah Romero of Las Cruces, New Mexico got the start in goal for SFCC and recorded four saves.

"I felt that we had control of the game," said SFCC Soccer Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "We were dominant in possession and taking shots. St. Louis caught us on a counterattack. I've been pleased with how our girls have played so far this season."

April 14 Metropolitan Community College at Sedalia

The 17th ranked Lady Roadrunners (3-2) picked up an important 2-0 victory over 16th-ranked Metropolitan Community College on Wednesday, April 14 at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex in Sedalia.

SFCC got on the scoreboard quickly with a goal from forward Briscia Zuniga of Houston, Texas with less than 26 minutes remaining in the opening half. Zuniga found the back of the net once again with less than 25 minutes remaining to close the scoring.

SFCC used a strong defensive effort and combined shutout in net from Romero and Maddi Bradbury of Australia to seal the victory.

Zuniga, Moon, and sophomore defender Natalie Clarke of England recorded two shots each. Romero got the start in net for SFCC and recorded four saves. Bradbury made one save. Romero and Bradbury earned the combined shutout in the net.

"It's always good to get a win in the region," said Beltran. "Our girls deserve it. They have bought into everything that we have done."
