Five Lady Roadrunners Earn All-Conference Honors

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners soccer team had five student-athletes earn Missouri Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference team honors during the just completed season.

Freshman Natalie Clarke of England and sophomore Hailie Acton of Fulton were named to the First-Team.

Clarke was a mainstay in the back line where she started in all 16 games for the Lady Roadrunners.

"She played almost 90 minutes in every game," said Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "She was our best defender. It is really good that we have her coming back and hopefully leading our defense into the new season."

Acton started all 16 games for SFCC. She scored one goal on 26 shots, 12 of which were on goal.

"Hailie is a very versatile player who can play almost anywhere on the field," said Beltran. "She played in the midfield and some minutes at forward. She even moved to the back line when we needed her to do so."

Sophomore Kimberly Rosas of El Paso, Texas, sophomore Melissa Martinez of Bolivia, and freshman Ash Lawson of Australia all earned Second-Team accolades.

Rosas tied for the team lead in goals with two. She also registered an assist and finished second on the team in points with five.

"Kimberly has been here for three years," said Beltran. "She was injured very early in our first season and was granted a medical redshirt. She was part of our success last season and battled through several injuries this year. She was a difference maker this year."

Martinez started and played in 15 games for the Lady Roadrunners this season. She tied for the team lead in goals scored with two. She led the team in assists with two and points with six.

"Melissa was kind of our distributor and engine of the midfield," said Beltran.

Lawson started 15 of 16 games this season. She scored one goal; it was a game winner for SFCC.

"Ash was a freshman who came in and worked her tail off to earn a spot," said Beltran. She scored a great goal against Jefferson College. I think she can be a big part of what we do next year."
