The Lady Roadrunners had their first scrimmage against William Woods University team in Fulton Aug. 15. The scrimmage was divided into three periods. William Woods won the scrimmage 4-0.

"We had a couple of injuries right off the bat," said Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "The loss wasn't as bad as the score might indicate. The girls played all right. We struggled to put the defense and the offense together at the same time. When we were attacking well, there were a couple of breakdowns on defense, and when we defended well, we had trouble transitioning to offense."

Coach Beltran was happy with the preseason scrimmage in general.

"We were able to get some answers about a couple players," said Beltran. "We saw what we needed to see. The only thing that I did not want was a couple of injuries during the scrimmage. We just have to keep moving forward and get ready to open the season."

SFCC will open the regular season at 6 p.m. Aug. 22 at Kansas City Kansas Community College.
