Lady Roadrunners draw at Central Methodist

The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners traveled to Fayette on Sept. 18 to take on the Central Methodist JV. SFCC (1-2-2) picked up a goal late in the second half to earn a draw with CMU.

Central Methodist got on the scoreboard in the 14th minute of the opening half. The Lady Roadrunners answered in the 70th minute when forward Alyssa Laird headed the ball home off a corner kick from sophomore defender Brie Bullock

"The thing I was most proud of was at halftime we changed our shape, and we hadn't really practiced it," said Lady Roadrunners Head Soccer Coach Eddie Horn. "In the second half, we were able to dominate play. I was proud of our team; they showed some fight and found a way to get back into the game."

Freshman goalkeeper Kylie King got the start in goal for the Lady Roadrunners and recorded six saves. King played 90 minutes for SFCC.

SFCC will return to action at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 22 for a Region 16 match against Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods at the Sports Complex west of the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
