SEDALIA – The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners secured back-to-back 20-win seasons with two Region 16 victories, defeating Crowder College 103-67 on Feb. 13 and Moberly Area Community College 74-49 on Feb. 15.
Feb. 13: SFCC vs. Crowder College
SFCC delivered a dominant offensive performance inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center, marking the seventh time this season the Lady Roadrunners have scored more than 100 points in a game. SFCC shot 57.6 percent from the field, hitting 14 of 24 from three-point range (58.3 percent) and 13 of 16 from the free-throw line (81.3 percent).
"It was a fun game," head coach Nicole Collier said. "We had balanced scoring, and I thought our ball movement was spectacular with 26 assists. Malia Rodgers of Montgomery City is someone who can make a lot of things happen with the ball in her hands. She sees the floor well and knows where the hot hands are. We had two big quarters in the first and third, and we played very unselfishly. Defensively, I was really proud of our effort."
Sophomore forward Kayla Sullivan of St. Louis led SFCC with 25 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double. She also hit five three-pointers and tied for the team lead in steals with sophomore guard Madison Johnson of Harrisonville and freshman guard Maddy Queathem of Montgomery City.
Freshman forward Ellie Buscher of St. Louis added 21 points. Rodgers recorded a double-double with 16 points and a team-high 12 assists, knocking down four three-pointers. Queathem scored 17 points, including five three-pointers. Johnson contributed 10 points.
Feb. 15: SFCC at Moberly Area Community College
SFCC (20-5, 5-4 Region 16) secured a 74-49 road win over Moberly Area Community College in a Missouri Community College Athletic Conference matchup.
Moberly led 15-11 after the first quarter, but SFCC responded to take a 31-30 lead into halftime. The game featured 13 lead changes and three ties before the Lady Roadrunners pulled away with a dominant 24-10 third quarter.
The win marked SFCC's first back-to-back 20-win seasons since 2014-15 and 2015-16.
