"Triton wanted this game a lot more than we did," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Nicole Collier. "They outworked us in every area of the game. I give credit to Triton; they came in and wanted to prove something. It was a disappointing opening game. We shot 14 of 33 from the free-throw line, that's not going to win you many games."
November 2 Rend Lake College at Sedalia
SFCC (1-1) closed their portion of the McDonald's Classic with an 83-62 victory over Rend Lake College inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on Saturday night, November 2 in Sedalia. The game featured six lead changes and four ties.
SFCC led the game at halftime 33-31 courtesy of a three-point shot from freshman guard Maddy Queathem. SFCC outscored Rend Lake 26-17 in the third quarter to take control of the contest and secure the victory.
"We were able to get the ball in the paint, and make some layups around the rim," said Collier. "We were able to get some offensive rebounds to create some extra possessions. We are a very timid group right now. We were finally able to loosen up and knock down a couple of shots from the perimeter. We made some adjustments on defense. We are still searching for consistency amongst our team."
Sullivan led the Lady Roadrunners in scoring with 18 points. Wright registered a double-double with 15 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Buscher added 13 points. Sophomore guard Madison Johnson led SFCC with six assists. Freshman guard Jonise Barcene led the team with four steals.
