SFCC student-athletes Tanksley and Shipp receive MCCAC honors

State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunner basketball players Aiyanna Tanksley of Detroit, Michigan, and Jaida Shipp of Edmond, Oklahoma, recently received Missouri Community College Athletic Conference honors. Tanksley was named to the All-Conference First Team; Shipp was named to the All-Conference Second Team. The Lady Roadrunners ended the season with a 13-16 record. The honors are based on votes by the conference coaches.

"Jaida and Aiyanna were a handful in the paint and did a tremendous job on the boards," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Nicole Collier. "We are looking forward to their continued growth in the off season."

Tanksley, a freshman forward, played in 29 games and started in eight. She led the team in scoring with 14.7 points a game and shot 50.1% from the field. Tanksley pulled down a team-high 9.2 rebounds per game, including a team-high 5.7 defensive rebounds per game.

Tanksley scored a season-high 29 points and 16 rebounds against Jefferson College. She scored in double figures 22 times and finished in double figures in rebounds 12 times.

Shipp, a freshman forward, played in 23 games and started in 21. She finished first on the team in field-goal percentage at 53.4, second in scoring at 11.2 points per game, second in rebounds with 7.7, and second in defensive rebounds with 4.5.

Shipp scored a season-high 28 points against Kansas City Kansas Community College and pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds against Mineral Area College. She scored in double figures 12 times and registered double-figure rebounds seven times this season.
