Goodwin to continue basketball career at Columbia College

 State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners sophomore guard Grace Goodwin of Sedalia signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Columbia College in a ceremony held inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center in front of teammates, friends, and family on Friday, April 29. Goodwin helped the Lady Roadrunners to an eight-win improvement during her sophomore campaign. Goodwin started in all 25 games this season.

"Columbia College is close to home," said Goodwin. "It is a really good school, and the basketball program has always been super good."

Goodwin led the team in assists and steals averaging 2.5 and 1.2 per game, respectively. Goodwin finished second on the team in scoring averaging 8.2 points per game. Goodwin scored a season-and career-high 23 points against Crowder College. Against North Central Missouri College, Goodwin recorded a season-high eight assists.

Goodwin has some fond memories of her time at SFCC.

"I got to meet a bunch of new girls and meet Coach Collier," said Goodwin. "I also got to learn more about the game of basketball. The opportunity to play at Columbia College is very exciting."

As a freshman, Goodwin played in all 19 games, averaged 6.3 points, 1.1 assists, 3.5 rebounds and shot 77% from the free-throw line.

"Grace is a kid who absorbs everything that you throw at her," said Lady Roadrunners Basketball Head Coach Nicole Collier. "She always wants to know more and continue to get better. She is a kid who will continue to keep working hard in whatever role the coach will put her in. Grace did an exceptional job for us this year. She would do anything that I asked her to do. She played multiple positions for us and guarded the other team's best player. She stepped up for us in a lot of key games."

In 2021, Goodwin earned NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Third Team. Goodwin is still undecided on an academic major at Columbia College.

"I am very excited for her to continue her academic and athletic career at Columbia College," said Collier. "Grace has worked very hard to get here. She is going to hit the ground running at Columbia College and continue to compete and get better every day."
