Three State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners recently earned honors from Region 16 and the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference. The awards are voted on by the coaches in the region and conference. SFCC also earned the Sportsmanship Award from the MCCAC.
"I was very pleased to see these three student-athletes earn post-season recognition," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "All three players played consistently well for us all season. Tierney (Echols) led our team early in the season before she was injured. She was able to come back late in the season. She drew four charging fouls in one game. She has been a good role model for our kids to see how hard you must play. Donnisia (Harrison) really hit her stride toward the middle of the season. She is a very athletic player who gave our opponents some issues, especially when driving the ball to the basket. Amaya (Coakley) really came on for us toward the end of the season. She was a consistent scorer, rebounder, and defender."
Freshman guard/forward Donnisia Harrison of Chicago, Illinois earned MCCAC All-Conference Women's Basketball First-Team as well as All-Region 16 Second Team. Freshman guard/forward Amaya Coakley of Killeen, Texas was named MCCAC All-Conference Women's Basketball Second Team and All-Region 16 Second Team as well. Freshman guard/forward Tieriney Echols of Memphis, Tennessee was also named to the All-Region 16 Second Team.
Harrison led the Lady Roadrunners in scoring at 9.4 points per game, had a team-high 1.8 assists per game and finished third on the team with 4.4 rebounds.
Coakley finished second on the team in scoring with 8.6 points per game, second in rebounds with 5.8, and second on the team in steals with 1.7.
