Feb. 10, Iowa Western Community College at Council Bluffs
The Lady Roadrunners (11-13) fell 74-64 to the 22nd ranked IWCC Lady Reivers.
"It was a hard fought game," said Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "We kept the game close. Brionna Hilland Michaela Bethel played well. Ren'Cia Rolling had a heck of a game. She was sick, but she kept us in the ballgame in the first half."
Iowa Western jumped out to an early 8-1 lead with less than four minutes remaining in the first quarter and 29-23 at the end of first quarter.
SFCC shot a blistering 60 percent from beyond the three-point arc in the first quarter to fight their way back into the game. Rolling gave her team a brief 30-29 lead in the second quarter.
"We were able to steal the ball and create some easy transition baskets," said Bucher.
Iowa Western responded to take a 47-39 lead into halftime. The Lady Reivers held SFCC to seven points in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Rolling led in double-figure scoring with 16 points. Sophomore guard/forward Catie Kaifescontributed 12 points. Freshman guard Monique Esbrand pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Sophomore guard Maya Brewer dished out a team-high three assists. Rolling registered a team-high two steals.
