Roadrunners Compete in Final Event Before Nationals
The State Fair Community College shooting sports team had a strong showing at the ACUI Central Midwest Regional, held March 1-2 at the World Shooting Recreational Complex.

SPARTA, Ill. – The State Fair Community College shooting sports team had a strong showing at the ACUI Central Midwest Regional, held March 1-2 at the World Shooting Recreational Complex. SFCC placed second in High Overall in the Classic All-American Division, which is based on the cumulative scores of the top five competitors in each discipline. The Roadrunners posted a team score of 1,288.
The competition featured 100 rounds each in American trap, American skeet, and sporting clays.
The top five High Overall team members included freshman Mason Rohan of Laddonia, who shot 98 in American trap, 89 in American skeet, and 72 in sporting clays. Sophomore Landon Schachtele of Armstrong scored 94 in trap, 91 in skeet, and 71 in sporting clays. Sophomore Bailey Carter of Montrose posted a 92 in trap, 84 in skeet, and 79 in sporting clays. Freshman David Thomlinson of Hughesville recorded a 92 in trap, 90 in skeet, and 73 in sporting clays. Freshman Austin Livengood of Crest Ridge shot 91 in trap, 88 in skeet, and 71 in sporting clays.
"We did fairly well this weekend," head coach Sarah Manuel said. "There were 153 male and 108 female competitors from various colleges and universities. We performed well in the Classic All-American Division, which I was very excited about."
The top five American trap scores came from Rohan (98), freshman Alexander Hill of Belton (98), freshman Mitchell O'Reilly of Belton (95), Schachtele (94), and freshman Broc Barnes of West Plains (92).
The top five American skeet scores came from Schachtele (91), Thomlinson (90), Rohan (89), Livengood (88), and freshman Caleb Hensley of Belton (87).
The top five sporting clays scores came from Carter (79), Thomlinson (73), Rohan (72), Livengood (71), and Schachtele (71).
"Our next competition is Nationals," Manuel said. "The kids have two weeks to work on things they feel they need to improve. It will be exciting to see what we can accomplish in San Antonio at the ACUI National Tournament. Hopefully, we can maintain the momentum we've built from our events in Arkansas and Illinois."
