The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners hosted the SFCC Shooting Sports Roadrunner Freeze Out at Polecat Creek Shotgun Park on Feb. 2-3. The event featured 100 American Trap, 100 American Skeet, and 100 Sporting Clays, with eight colleges and universities participating.
SFCC freshman Ava Cooper of West Plains, earned top female honors in American Skeet with a score of 87. She also secured the top female spot in American Trap, scoring 91.
The SFCC team claimed the top spot in American Skeet, with a combined score of 467 out of 500. Team members included freshman Mason Rohen of Laddonia; freshman Alexander Hill of Belton; freshman David Thomlinson of Hughesville; sophomore Bailey Carter of Montrose; and freshman Ben Wieland of Bunceton.
"In addition to Ava and our American Skeet team, I would also like to point out Tristan Salmons (Mexico, Missouri)," said Head Coach Sarah Manuel. "Tristan really focused in over the break and definitely improved his scores. He was in the top five overall for the weekend. This event was a good one to get back into the swing of things for the next six weeks before Nationals. I was proud of how our team showed up. We had some different competition come into this year's tournament. It was exciting to see them shooting against some of the bigger universities and see where they are compared to some other institutions."
