Three members of the State Fair Community College (SFCC) archery team secured top-three finishes at the USA Archery Indoor Nationals on Jan. 18-19 in Yankton, South Dakota.
"Due to facility limitations, USA Archery hosts this event across multiple locations," said Head Coach Sarah Manuel.
Freshman Leann Drake, from Lexington, Missouri, clinched first place in the Women's Collegiate Compound Division in Yankton, with scores of 290, 293, 293, and 292 over four rounds.
"Leann's performance was outstanding," Manuel said. "Indoor competitions are her strength. Competing alongside professionals, she remained composed and also secured third in the Women's Senior Division"
Freshman Parker Hayes, from Higginsville, Missouri, placed second in the Men's Collegiate Compound Division, posting scores of 281, 280, 289, and 284.
Sophomore John Armeutrout, from Hume, Missouri, took third in the same division, with scores of 281, 278, 283, and 276.
"I'm very proud of all three athletes," Manuel said. "Despite the cold outside, they stayed focused. Parker's 289 in the third round was particularly impressive. All three have advanced to an event in Las Vegas due to their performances."
