Feb. 18 Southeastern Community College
Burlington, Iowa-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners (0-2) softball team opened their 2025 campaign with a doubleheader against Southeastern Community College. SFCC committed six errors in a 16-1 loss in five innings in game one, and lost game two 9-7.
In game one, SFCC had only two hits. Freshman pitcher/shortstop Valerie Meyer of Hughesville, Missouri hit a solo home run. Sophomore first baseman/second baseman Danika Sickle of Grain Valley, Missouri recorded a double. Sophomore utility player Bailey Haselhorst of Kansas City, Missouri walked and stole a base. Sophomore outfielder/middle infielder Jordan Crooks of Leeton, Missouri walked and stole two bases.
Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Kiara Sodini of Lee's Summit got the start for SFCC. Sodini gave up 10 runs (eight earned) on nine hits, struck out one and walked two in 1 2/3 innings. Freshman Zoe Donahue of Mountain Home, Arkansas came out of the bullpen to pitch 2 1/3 innings gave up six runs (three earned runs) on four hits and struck out four.
In game two, Haselhorst had one hit, one RBI, and a stolen base. Sophomore catcher/third baseman Lia Hill of Lee's Summit added a hit, a run scored, and an RBI. Sodini drove in a run and walked three times. Freshman outfielder Carley Conrad of Edwardsville, Kansas scored a run, drove in a run, and walked twice. Freshman infielder/utility player Jenna Herald of Monett had a hit, and a run scored. Sophomore middle infielder/outfielder Emily Burke of Cole Camp added a hit, a run scored, and an RBI. Freshman catcher/outfielder Katlyn Starke of Linn also had a hit, a run scored, and an RBI. Crooks scored a run and drove in a run.
Freshman pitcher/first baseman Elana Clark of Maysville got the start for SFCC in game two. Clark gave up nine runs (four earned runs) on nine hits, struck out two, and walked one in 3 1/3 inning. Meyer pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief, gave up one hit and struck out four.
