Wilson Makes College Choice

State Fair Community College (SFCC) sophomore Emily Wilson has decided where she will continue her academic and athletic career at Arkansas State University (ASU) in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The sophomore from Oak Grove, Missouri recently signed a Letter of Intent to play softball for the Lady Red Wolves.

"Arkansas State is one of the very few schools to have my major, which is forensic anthropology," said Wilson. "Fortunately, I will be able to play softball there, as well as continue my education. Right now at Arkansas State, softball is a club sport that they are in the process of making it a varsity sport."

So far this season, Wilson has appeared in 25 of 26 games. She has recorded 18 hits, including four doubles and a home run. Wilson has scored 14 runs, while driving in 16.

"The biggest thing that Emily has brought to our program is her intensity," said SFCC Softball Head Coach Lyndsey Talbot. "She has a lot of passion for the game. Emily is a person who has really bought into our program and is a real joy to have around. I wish her nothing but the best in her future."

During her freshman campaign, Wilson helped SFCC to a school record 18 wins. Wilson played in all 51 games and finished the season with a .324 batting average. Wilson registered 47 hits on the year; third on the team. She drove in 17 runs and scored 26. Wilson had an on-base percentage of .391.

"My teammates are the greatest group of girls you could ever want to be around," said Wilson. "They make every day awesome; coming to SFCC has been the best two years of my life so far. I will miss it a lot when I leave."
