Lady Roadrunners sweep Missouri Valley

The Lady Roadrunners softball team (4-0) swept the Missouri Valley Lady Vikings JV in Marshall in a doubleheader 10-2 and 9-1 on Feb. 25. 

SFCC scored single runs in the first and fourth innings, and then blew the game open with three runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth to claim the victory because of the run rule. 

Freshman pitcher MacKenze Gudde used her bat to help her team with two hits, including her second homerun in as many days to go along with four RBIs. Freshman infielder Sydnee Cotter added one hit, two runs scored and three RBIs. Sophomore outfielder Kalee Shumaker contributed two runs. Freshman utility player Mikayla Gustin recorded three hits and two RBIs. Sophomore catcher/infielder Sarah McAninch scored a pair of runs. 

Gudde (2-0) went the distance in the circle. She gave up two runs and struck out four in six innings. 

In game two, SFCC scored two runs in the second inning, added four in the fourth and three in the seventh. 

Gustin led the Lady Roadrunners' offense with three hits, three runs and four RBIs. McAninch pitched in with two hits, two runs and an RBI. Freshman catcher/infielder Anna Mae Wilkerson had three RBIs in the game. 

Freshman pitcher Madison Harris (2-0) threw a complete game, giving up seven hits and striking out three and allowing only one run.
