Roadrunners finish with record best at the National Championships

The 23^rd ranked (tied) State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners cross country team wrapped up an historic season with a 21st place finish as a team with 549 points at the NJCAA Division II Cross Country Championships at Apalachee Regional Park on Saturday, November 11 in Tallahassee, Florida. The 21^st place finish as a team is the best in program history.

Sophomore Nathan Gemechu finished 74^th covering the 8K course in a time of 29:00.9 to lead SFCC. Sophomore Logan Shaw finished 91^st with a time of 29:29.1. Freshman Ezeckual Freed finished 117^th in a time of 30:47.0. Sophomore Ty Lewis finished 132^nd with a time of 31:13.6. Freshman Roman Ray finished 135^th with a time of 31:21.3. Sophomore Juan Herrera finished 150^th with a time of 32:01.2. Sophomore Ryan Smith finished 153^rd with a time of 32:04.8.

"Our athletes went out and raced hard in tough Florida weather," said Roadrunners Head Coach Brad Hagedorn. "It was hot and humid. Our team got out in the position that they needed to be in order to race successfully. We ran smart. The meet on Saturday was the culmination of consistent, hard work that our athletes put in since the start of the summer."
