SFCC Brings Home Two All-American Finishes from Outdoor National Championships
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams wrapped up their season at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held May 15–17 at Gowans Stadium.
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The State Fair Community College (SFCC) men's and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up their season at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held May 15–17 at Gowans Stadium.
Sophomore Isaiah Waller, Versailles, earned All-American honors in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.78 meters, earning second place. Freshman Tucker Singer, Tina, also earned All-American recognition, finishing fifth in the shot put with a throw of 16.60 meters.
Waller also placed ninth in the discus with a throw of 49.30 meters.
Sophomore Jasper DeGraffenreid, Eldon, finished 12th in the shot put with a mark of 14.61 meters. Freshman Zeshaun Ballance-Gray, Kansas City, placed 14th in the triple jump with a leap of 14.06 meters, and freshman Demarii Williams, Rolla, was 15th in the shot put at 13.99 meters.
Sophomore Jess Cornick, Mason City, Iowa, ran the 800 meters in 1:55.39, finishing 28th. The Roadrunners placed 20th overall in the men's team standings with 12 points.
On the women's side, sophomore Bailey Haselhorst, Kansas City, recorded the top finish for the Lady Roadrunners, placing 12th in the javelin with a throw of 35.70 meters. Freshman Izzy Sabala, Hermitage, placed 15th in the same event with a throw of 33.74 meters.
Freshman Jocelyn Nunez, Independence, placed 16th in the long jump with a mark of 5.06 meters.
"We had a nice culmination to a very successful season," said head coach Brad Hagedorn. "We have preached consistency all year, and it showed up at Nationals. The athletes performed well and represented our school and team excellently. Congratulations to Isaiah and Tucker for placing in their events and earning All-American honors."
