SFCC records nine top 20 finishes at NAIA/Junior College Invitational

The SFCC Track and Field Teams continued their indoor season at Pittsburg State University in the NAIA/Junior College Invitational inside the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas on Saturday, Jan. 22.

Freshman Roadrunner Jalen McGee finished in the top 20, winning the triple jump with a jump of 14.50 meters and ninth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.48. Freshman Wyatt Irwin finished fourth in the high jump with a jump of 1.96 meters. Freshman Landon Mason finished 12th in the weight throw with a throw of 10.87 meters. Mason finished 14th in the shot put with a throw of 11.07 meters. Freshman Logan Shaw finished 18th in the 3,000m run with a time of 9:52.07. Freshman Ethan Sims placed 19th in the 600m run with a time of 1:32.99.

"It was a solid day," said SFCC Head Track and Field Coach Brad Hagedorn. "Jalen McGee won the triple jump with a Nationals qualifying mark of 14.50. Wyatt Irwin also placed fourth in the high jump."

Freshman Korry Davis finished ninth in the 3,000m with a time of 12:39.28 to lead the Lady Roadrunners. Freshman Zaya Dove finished 12th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.03.

"Our ladies are settling into the season and proving to be very consistent," said Hagedorn. They are primed to break through with some nice personal records in the weeks to come."
