SFCC Track and Field records nine top 20 finishes
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Track and Field teams competed at the Washburn Rust Buster in Topeka, Kansas.
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Track and Field teams competed at the Washburn Rust Buster in Topeka, Kansas. Thirteen SFCC student-athletes competed in 20 events inside the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility on Saturday, Jan. 15. The meet was made up of 56 teams, 718 athletes, and 1,100 entries.
Freshman Jalen McGee finished third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.66 seconds to lead the Roadrunners. McGee finished 13th in the 400m with a time of 52.23 seconds. McGee also finished 20th in the shot put with a throw of 9.64 meters. Freshman Wyatt Irwin finished fourth in the high jump with a jump of 1.90 meters. Freshman Landon Mason finished 15th in the shot put with a throw of 11.17 meters. Mason also finished 18th in the weight throw with a throw of 10.23 meters.
Freshman Daylynn Baker finished fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.28 seconds to lead the Lady Roadrunners. Baker also finished 16th in the shot put with a throw of 8.33 meters. Freshman Ella Golden finished 19th in the 200m with a time of 28.20 seconds.
"We had another solid day," said SFCC Track and Field Head Coach Brad Hagedorn. "We were short some of our student-athletes, but competed very well. We placed high in several events."
