Roadrunners put together best effort of the season so far to defeat Crowder

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners soccer team lost a 1-0 exhibition game against Central Methodist University on Tuesday, September 24 in Fayette.
Central Methodist got on the scoreboard with about 20 minutes remaining in the opening half. Central Methodist took the lead into halftime. SFCC battled throughout the rest of the match. However, SFCC was unable to find the equalizer.
Freshman Michele Tafani got the start in goal for SFCC.
September 28 Crowder College at Sedalia
SFCC (3-6) received a pair of goals from freshman Ethan Taylor to defeat Crowder College 2-1 at home Saturday, September 28.
SFCC got on the scoreboard first with about 18 minutes to go in the opening half when Taylor scored off a corner kick to put the Roadrunners ahead. SFCC created more scoring chances in the final 20 minutes but were unable to convert. The Roadrunners held on to the 1-0 advantage going into halftime.
Crowder tied the match off a penalty kick with about 24 minutes remaining in the second half.
Taylor scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with less than 17 minutes remaining in the match. The SFCC defense made the plays down the stretch to preserve the victory.
"Our men's team has gotten into a rhythm," said Head Coach Michael Poropat. "Crowder is a very good team. This game might've been our best game of the year. Our players are understanding the level that you need to compete at against quality competition. Hopefully, that trend will continue."
Tafani got the start in goal for SFCC.
