Roadrunners finish the regular season

Oct. 10 Metropolitan Community College at Fred E. Davis Sports Complex

The soccer team picked up their second win of the season with a 4-1 victory over Metropolitan Community College at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in Sedalia. The Roadrunners scored three goals within the first 10 minutes of the match. Jesus Martinez scored off a loose ball in front of the goal with less than three minutes gone in the opening half. Ethan Phillips scored the match's second goal with about 39 minutes remaining in the opening half. Diego Flores-Elizalde scored off an assist from Liam Snowball and brought SFCC up 3-0.

Rodrigo Prieto finished the scoring with a long shot just out of the reach of the goalkeeper with 17 minutes and 30 seconds remaining in the opening half, and SFCC took a 4-0 lead into halftime; the four goals are a season highlight. MCC scored a goal with less than 20 minutes remaining in the second half. Kamryn Bridges got the start in goal for SFCC and made six saves.

Oct. 15 Southwestern Illinois College at Fred E. Davis Sports Complex

SFCC (2-8-1) fell 5-1 in the regular season finale to Southwestern Illinois College at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex in Sedalia on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Southwestern Illinois got on the scoreboard first with a goal with less than 38 minutes remaining in the opening half. Southwestern Illinois added another goal to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Southwestern Illinois tacked on another goal with less than 23 minutes remaining in the second half.

SFCC responded with a goal of their own from Phillips with 22 minutes 22 seconds remaining in the second half. Southwestern Illinois responded with their fourth goal of the match with more than 15 minutes remaining in the second half. Southwestern Illinois scored their fifth and final goal of the match with about three minutes and 30 seconds remaining in the match.

Bridges got the start in goal for SFCC and made nine saves.
