The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners (2-2) fell 3-0 to the Mineral Area College Cardinals from Park Hills at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex on Sunday, Sept. 5 in Sedalia.
Mineral Area scored with less than seven minutes remaining in the opening half and added another goal as time expired to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. The Cardinals added their third goal with less than 20 minutes remaining in the match.
"It was just not a good day," said Roadrunners Head Soccer Coach Jaime Beltran. "Our chances didn't go in and every chance that they had seemed to go in. Sometimes, you have days like that and must pick things up, reorganize and go back to doing what we know we can do."
Freshman forward Francisco Zubia led the team in shots with four, three of which were on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Nicolas Olmos got the start in goal for the Roadrunners and made two saves.
