State Fair Community College (SFCC) defender Malachi Cotter of England has been named a 2020-21 NJCAA Division II Men's Soccer Third Team All-American by the NJCAA Division II Men's Soccer Committee. Cotter is the first men's soccer student-athlete to earn the honor since the resumption of the program.
Cotter was a key piece of the Roadrunners defense this season and recorded one assist. Cotter started all 11 games this season recording six shots, two of which were on goal. He helped his team to a 4-4-3 record and an appearance in the Region 16 Tournament semifinal round.
"Malachi was very solid," said SFCC Soccer Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "He was the linchpin of our defense and the guy that organized everything, especially once we sorted out who needed to be where. He was a strong leader - always positive and vocal. Malachi was our most consistent player back there (on defense) and is very deserving of the recognition that he has received."
The SFCC soccer teams played the 2020-21 season in the spring. Both the men's and women's teams will resume fall play for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
