Three student-athletes on the State Fair Community College men's soccer team have earned All-Region 16 recognition from the coaches in the Region and conference. Defender Malachi Cotter of England earned First-Team honors. Goalkeeper Breno Prado and midfielder Tebello Ntene of Lesotho earned Second-Team honors.
Cotter also earned First-Team honors in the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference. Prado was named to the Second-Team.
The trio helped SFCC to a 4-3-3 record and an appearance in the Region 16 Tournament Semifinal round.
Cotter was a key piece of the Roadrunners defense this season and recorded one assist.
"Malachi was probably one of the most complete center backs in the region in my opinion," said Roadrunners Soccer Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "He did a really good job communicating and leading the team and organizing the backline. He also has the ability to be in the right place at the right time. All around, Malachi had a really good year."
Prado started 11 games in goal this season for the Roadrunners, recorded three shutouts, and shared another shutout. Prado had four wins in the net on the season.
"In my opinion, Breno Prado is the best goalkeeper in the region," said Beltran. "He commands his box. He is a really good shot stopper, who is also able to come off the line. He can be aggressive to win the ball on crosses and has the feet of a field player, which allows us to play the ball back to him and he can help us keep possession."
Ntene scored four goals this season, three of which were game-winning goals.
"Tebello Ntene was our leading goal scorer," said Beltran. "He was able to win the St. Charles game practically by himself. He also put us ahead in a couple of games where we just were not able to hold the lead. Tebello is a very good offensive player."
