Adam Short is in his fifth season at SFCC. He helped SFCC to a 12-16 record during the 2018-2019 season.

In his third season, the Roadrunners were 19-10 and made an appearance in the Region 16 tournament semifinal round. The Roadrunners finished second in the Region 16 regular season standings. He coached NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American Andre (A.J.) Walker, who continued his academic and athletic career at Pittsburg State University

In 2016-2017, the Roadrunners finished with an 11-19 record and an appearance in the Region 16 tournament semifinal round.

In his first year, he helped the Roadrunners to a 19-10 record and a trip to the Region 16 tournament championship game

Before joining the Roadrunners, he spent the 2014-2015 season at Missouri State University-West Plains as an assistant basketball coach. While there, the Grizzlies finished the season 22-11. From that team, Coach Short coached and mentored six Division 1 players. 

From 2013 to 2014, Short served as assistant coach at Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas.            

Short began his coaching career as a student assistant at Avila University in Kansas City from 2010 to 2011. He assisted with creating practice plans and scouting reports, breaking down film and developing post players’ skills.

As a student at Avila, Short appeared in three straight conference tournaments. He helped lead the team to an 18-12 record during the 2011-2012 season, which was their best record in more than 10 years and resulted in hosting a first-round conference tournament game. While playing at Avila, he accumulated 1,000 points and was named an All-Conference player.

Short, a Schererville, Indiana, native, began his collegiate career at Joliet Junior College in Illinois. 

Coach Short played for NJCAA Hall of Famer, Joe Kuhn. During his sophomore campaign, his team finished as the national runner-up. Coach Short was named NJCAA Player of the Week twice, North Central Community College Conference First Team All-Conference, and North Central Community College Conference Tournament MVP.

Short earned a bachelor’s in English with an emphasis in Writing in May 2011 and a master’s degree in Organizational Development from Avila in 2013. Short and wife Erika reside in Greenwood.
