Roadrunners fall at nationally ranked Moberly

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners basketball team opened their Region 16 schedule with a 65-54 loss to the 21st ranked Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds in Moberly on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The game was also part of the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams.
The Greyhounds jumped out to a 7-0 early and pushed the advantage to 10 points.
The Roadrunners (13-4, 0-1 in Region 16) answered with an 11-0 run to make the score 29-28 at halftime, courtesy of a three-point shot from sophomore guard Alex Gunnels.
Moberly came out of the locker room with another run to extend the advantage to 41-34 with about 16 minutes remaining in the game. SFCC continued to fight but could not overcome the early run from the Greyhounds in the second half.
Sophomore forward Sam Bradford shot 50 percent from the field to lead SFCC with 19 points and three steals. Gunnels scored 16 points and a team-high four assists. Sophomore forward Chin Hanson pulled down a team-high nine rebounds to go along with a team-high six blocked shots.
