Roadrunners end losing streak, fall at nationally ranked Moberly

Feb. 15 Missouri State University-West Plains at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners picked up a critical 80-70 Region 16 victory over the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzlies inside the Davis Center on Wednesday, Feb. 15 in Sedalia.

The Roadrunners jumped out to an early 8-0 lead, before West Plains pulled within two by halftime. SFCC led 56-51 with just over 10 minutes and made the plays down the stretch to secure their second Region 16 victory of the season.

"Tonight, we played with seven players and found a way to beat a team that had 11 players," said Roadrunners Head Coach Matt Brown. "That shows our guys haven't quit. I think that this was our best win of the year."

Sophomore guard Jules Bikoy led the team in scoring with 25 points and tied for the team lead with four assists. Freshman guard Devon Ellis added 19 points. Freshman guard Tazir Smith added 12 points. Sophomore wing/forward Dalton Gayman had a double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and four assists (team lead).

"We played a smaller lineup tonight and had four guys in double figures," said Brown. "I was really proud of the way we played tonight with only seven players and our backs against the wall."

The Roadrunners honored their sophomore class at halftime of the women's game.

Feb. 18 Moberly Area Community College at Moberly

SFCC (8-20, 2-9 in Region 16) lost a 74-56 game to the fifth-ranked Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds on Saturday night, Feb. 18. The game was part of the Region 16 schedule for both teams.

Moberly led for the entire game taking a 36-22 lead into halftime. The Greyhounds stretched the advantage to 24 points in the second half, which was the largest lead of the contest.

Bikoy put together a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the team in both categories. Smith contributed 12 points. Gayman pulled down 11 rebounds. Gayman led the team in blocked shots with three and tied for the team lead in steals with freshman guard Trey Jones registering two each.
