State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners' freshmen guard/forward Cam Tweedy was named to the Men's Basketball All-Region Division I First Team as well as the Men's Basketball Missouri Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team. Freshman guard Yame Butler was named to the Men's Basketball All-Region Division I Second Team and Men's Basketball Missouri Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference Second Team. The awards are voted on by the coaches in the Region and the Conference.
Tweedy started in 27 of 30 games, in which he averaged 13.1 points, 7.1 rebounds (both team-highs) and 2.4 assists per game. Tweedy scored a season-high 23 points against Mineral Area College and a season-high 15 rebounds against Link Year Prep. Tweedy recorded double-digit rebounds eight times during his freshman campaign and scored in double figures 22 times.
"Cam had a good year for us," said Roadrunners Head Coach Matt Brown. "He is probably the best rebounder that I've had since I've been here. He is a good student who will have some opportunities as far as possible colleges and universities, but we would love to have him back here next year."
Butler started 17 of 29 games, in which he averaged 9.9 points, 3.2 assists (a team-high) and 1.3 steals per game. Butler twice scored a season-high 19 points against Moberly Area Community College and St. Louis Community College, a game in which Butler scored five three-point shots.
"Yame had a good season for us," said Brown. "I'm very proud of all of our kids. We went to West Plains and lost by six, the very next week we beat them by 33. Mineral Area beats us by 25 and in the region tournament we were up by two with five seconds left and lost a heartbreaker. I'm very happy for both of those guys to receive recognition. They are both really good kids."
