SFCC falls to Moberly

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners lost a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference game to the Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds 76-59 on Wednesday, Jan. 12 inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center. The Greyhounds are receiving votes in the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Poll this week.

Moberly used their defensive pressure to jump out to an early 14-5 lead with 14 minutes and 12 seconds remaining in the opening half. SFCC (12-7, 1-3 in Region 16) cut the deficit to 21-17 with under eight minutes remaining in the opening half. Moberly took a 33-27 lead into halftime. The Greyhounds outscored SFCC 43-32 in the second half.

"We were only down six points headed into halftime," said Roadrunners Head Coach Matt Brown. "We were able to minimize our turnovers. We didn't do a good job of executing offensively in the second half. Against a good team like Moberly, you have to do a better job of executing.

Freshman guard/forward Will Wilson led SFCC with 15 points, three assists, and two steals. Freshman guard Caleb Mims added 12 points. Freshman guard/forward Cam Tweedy led the Roadrunners with 11 rebounds.

"Rebounding was the difference in the game," said Brown. "We out rebounded them by one in the first half, but they out rebounded us by 13 in the second half."
