Roadrunners split a pair of games

Dec. 1 - Next Level Prep at Sedalia

The SFCC Roadrunners extended their winning streak to seven with a 112-62 victory over Next Level Prep in the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.

SFCC was in control of the game the entire way. Six Roadrunners scored in double figures. Freshman guard Yame Butler led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points. Butler pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and dished out a team-high seven assists. Butler also led the team in steals with five. Freshman guard Elliott Sieger contributed 17 points. Freshman forward Uros Gatic added 16 points. Freshman guard Chad Kratzer Jr. registered 15 points. Freshman guard Caleb Mims pitched in with 13 points. Freshman guard/forward Cam Tweedy scored 11 points. Freshmen forwards Kingsley Ijeoma and Malik Madison tied for the team lead in blocked shots with two.

Roadrunners Head Coach Matt Brown was pleased with what he saw from his team.

"I thought it was good game," said Brown. "We had 30 assists to only 12 turnovers as a team. We shot 63% from the field, 66% from beyond the three-point line, and 80% from the free-throw line."

 

Dec. 4 - Mineral Area College at Park Hills

SFCC (11-3, 0-1 in Region 16) fell to the 19th ranked Mineral Area College Cardinals 76-57 in Park Hills on Saturday night in the Region 16 opener for SFCC. The game featured four lead changes and one tie.

The game was close in the opening minutes. Mineral Area took a 36-28 lead into halftime. Mineral Area stifled the SFCC offense, holding the Roadrunners to only 29 points in the second half.

"I thought we played a good first half," said Brown. "We didn't play very well the last 10 minutes of the second half. Mineral Area is a good team."

Kratzer was the only Roadrunner in double-figure scoring with 13 points and led in assists with four. Freshman forward Clance Crosby and Madison tied for the team lead in rebounds with five each. Kratzer also registered a team-high three steals in the game. As a team, SFCC shot 40% from the field and 39% from beyond the three-point line.
