Roadrunners compete at John A. Logan Jamboree

The State Fair Community College Roadrunners continued their preseason schedule going 1-2 at the John A. Logan Jamboree on Sunday, Oct. 17. The scrimmages consisted of 20-minute halves with running clocks.

SFCC defeated Olney Central College in their first scrimmage, but lost a close game to Vincennes in their second match. SFCC lost to John A. Logan College in their final scrimmage.

"It was a really good event," said Roadrunners Head Coach Matt Brown. "We were able to play high level teams. I think Vincennes and John A. Logan are traditionally top 10 teams. Some guys who did not play so well previously, played well on Sunday and some guys who played well in Dallas, did not play as well this weekend but, at the end of the day we are still 0-0. Our team chemistry is good. Overall, the scrimmages were valuable to our team."

Coach Brown saw some positives from his team at the scrimmages.

"I think our defense is going to be pretty good," said Brown. "We just need to continue to work on some other things. The purpose of scrimmages is to play different combinations of players together, which is why I started a different line up every game – to evaluate our chemistry. We just need to continue to improve and be ready when the regular season starts on Nov. 3."
