Roadrunners Basketball Recap Jan. 15

Jan. 15 Moberly Area Community College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners (11-8, 0-2 in Region 16, 2-2 in the MCCAC) lost to the Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds 92-78 at home in a Region 16 and Conference matchup Wednesday, Jan. 15.

The Greyhounds are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Rankings. The contest featured five lead changes and four ties.

SFCC started the game well, jumping out to a nine-two lead with about 17 minutes remaining in the opening half. Moberly erased the early deficit in a back-and-forth first half and led by five points at halftime.

Sophomore guards Damaria Franklin and Malcolm Townsel both of Chicago, Illinois carried the Roadrunners offensively with 32 points each. Franklin registered a team-high four steals and tied for the team lead in assists with five, along with redshirt freshman guard Nate McClure of Houston, Texas. Franklin also tied for the team lead in rebounds with redshirt freshman forward Sarion McGee of Milwaukee, Wisconsin pulling down eight each.

"That was a good game," said Roadrunners Head Coach Matt Brown. "I thought we competed pretty well. I'm proud of our guy's effort. Rebounding was the difference in the game. The next time we play Moberly, we have to do a better job of rebounding, that has been the difference every time we played them."
