Dec. 5, Marshalltown Community College at Marshalltown, Iowa

The Roadrunners defeated the Marshalltown Community College Tigers 81-78 in a game that featured 12 lead changes and nine ties.

SFCC took an eight-point lead early in the contest, the largest lead held by either team in the game. SFCC led by one point at halftime. The Roadrunners shot 72 percent from the free-throw line as a team for the game.

Freshman guard/forward LePear Toles led a balanced scoring attack with 20 points and eight rebounds, leading his team in both categories. Freshman guards Tyreek Scott-Grayson and Dru Smith contributed 11 points each. Freshman guard Tim Leavell added 10. Smith registered a team-high five steals. Sophomore guard Andre (A.J.) Walker led his team in assists with seven.

"It was a good win on the road for us," said Head Coach Matt Brown. "We did a good job of making free throws down the stretch of the game."

Dec. 9, Johnson County Community College at Sedalia

The Roadrunners shook off a slow start to defeat the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers 73-58.

Johnson County led 13-2 with less than four minutes gone in the game. SFCC fought back to take a 31-30 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Roadrunners went on a 20-2 run to take control of the game.

"We put a defensive lineup on the floor the second half," said Brown. "Derrick Brock, Jr., Dru Smith and Caleb Coleman all did a great job for us. When you have unselfish players like Isaac Bassey who just wants to do what's best for the team, it's pretty amazing. I'm really thankful for LePear Toles and Isaac Bassey; all they care about is the team winning. I like the group of players I have. They are a lot of fun to coach."

Walker registered 21 points, 11 assists and five steals, leading his team in all three categories. Tolescontributed 16 points and eight rebounds. He tied for the team lead in rebounds with Smith. Scott-Grayson added 10 points.

The Roadrunners (11-3) will now shift their focus to academics as they finish the semester with finals. After a holiday break, they will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 4 p.m. when they will take on Johnson County, again, this time in Overland Park, Kansas.
