Men's basketball vs. MCC-Penn Valley

Nov. 7, Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley at Sedalia

The Roadrunners' winning streak extended to three games with a 76-68 victory over the Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley Scouts from Kansas City. SFCC (3-0) took a 24-13 lead early in the first half. Penn Valley fought back to even the score at 35 at halftime. The contest featured 10 lead changes and seven ties.

"I knew that Penn Valley was a good team," said Head Coach Matt Brown. "I was proud of our guys. They did a good job of handling the full-court pressure from Penn Valley. Different guys stepped up for our team."

SFCC took control of the game in the second half. The Roadrunners went on a 7-0 run punctuated by a dunk from freshman guard Tyreek Scott-Grayson to take a 58-53 lead.

"Coach Short had a good idea to put Tyreek Scott-Grayson in the backcourt, so we could have a taller passer to see over their pressure," said Brown. "We were able to break the pressure a lot easier that way. Once we were able to beat the pressure, we pretty much got whatever we wanted."

Scott-Grayson led four Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 13 points. He pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and blocked a team-high three shots. Sophomore guard Andre (A.J.) Walker scored 12 point and dished out a team-high 10 assists. He tied for team lead with two steals with freshman guard/forward Caleb Coleman, freshman forward Colby Honeycutt and freshman guard/forward LePear Toles who also scored 12 points. Freshman guard Dru Smith added 10 points.

SFCC returns to action at home 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, against Westminster College junior varsity from Fulton as part of the Stone Laser Imaging Classic in the Davis Center.
