Panthers defeat Roadrunners

The Roadrunners (9-4) participated in the St. Louis Shoot-Out on Dec. 4 and fell to the Olive-Harvey College Panthers from Chicago 90-86. 

The Roadrunners struggled shooting from the field in the first half, making just eight of their 26 field-goal attempts. Olive-Harvey built a 52-39 halftime advantage. SFCC attempted a furious comeback in the second half, outscoring the Panthers 47-38. 

The Roadrunners were led in scoring by sophomore guard Willie Jimerson Jr. with 24 points, including 18 of 22 free-throw attempts. He also led in steals with three. Freshman guard Onteral Woodson Jr. contributed 18 points and six rebounds. Sophomore forward Amir Smith just missed a triple-double with 13 points, a team-high 16 rebounds and nine blocked shots. Jimerson led in assists with five, and sophomore guard Vonny Irvin recorded four. 

The Roadrunners will travel to St. Louis to open Missouri Community College Athletic Conference play against the St. Louis Community College Archers at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7.
