Reivers Defeat Roadrunners

The Roadrunners traveled to Council Bluffs, Iowa, Feb. 3 to take on the Iowa Western Community College Reivers. SFCC (4-18) fell 71-48.

The Reivers jumped out to a 9-2 advantage with about 13 minutes left in the first half. SFCC trimmed the advantage to two points at 18-16 with about six minutes remaining in the half. Iowa Western took a 27-17 lead into halftime. The Reivers extended their advantage to as many as 28 points in the second half to secure the victory.

"We got off to a decent start," said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. "Our game plan worked to begin the game, but once again we took some questionable shots and committed some turnovers that proved to be our downfall."

Freshman forward Clint Robinson led SFCC in scoring with 18 points and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds. Freshman guard Joshua Bailey contributed 14 points. Freshman forward Selvedin Planincic pulled down 10 rebounds, recorded a team-high two blocked shots and dished out a team-high three assists. Freshman guard DaMario Walker and Robinson tied for the team lead in steals with two.

"Clint had a great game," said Thomas. "He played really well. Trent (Cooper) played really hard and defended well. Selvedin was really good on the glass. I was pleased with many of our efforts; it's the careless turnovers that continue to haunt us."

The Roadrunners will return to Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference action at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 when they travel to Poplar Bluff to take on Three Rivers Community College.
