Roadrunners Baseball Head Coach Jud Kindle is in his eighth year at State Fair Community College. SFCC finished 18-33 during the 2023 campaign. The program earned its third consecutive NJCAA Academic Team Award.

Kindle led his team to a 22-24 record during the 2022 season. SFCC earned the program’s second consecutive NJCAA Academic Team Award in 2022. 

He helped his team to a 20-26 record during the 2021 campaign. The Roadrunners also earned the program’s first NJCAA Academic Team Award in 2021.

The 2020 campaign ended in mid-March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Coach Kindle picked up his 100th win as a collegiate head coach on March 1 in the second game of a doubleheader against Lincoln Land Community College. SFCC finished the season with a 15-9 record.

Kindle led SFCC to the championship round of the Region 16 Baseball tournament in his third year in charge of the program. The Roadrunners put together a record of 35-21. The 35 victories are a program record. SFCC also hosted and won another sub-regional series. 

Kindle led a much-improved SFCC baseball team in his second year to a 33-24 record, which included the program’s first-time hosting and winning a sub-regional series.

He helped lead his team to a 23-28 record during the first season since the restart of the program in 2017.

Coach Kindle brought a wealth of coaching experience to his position at SFCC. He began his coaching career at Missouri State University in Springfield, serving as an assistant in 2004-2005. He served as the head coach for the Chillicothe Mudcats of the MINK (Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas) League, a collegiate summer league in 2008.

Kindle served as coach and manager for the Sedalia Bombers, a MINK League team from 2009 to 2015. He recruited players from colleges throughout the country. He also secured host families for the players, as well as scheduled games, and secured sponsorships to fund the program. Kindle was also in charge of the Bombers community service efforts.

Kindle brought a lot of playing experience to his position. He began his collegiate playing career at Crowder College, where he graduated with an Associate of Arts in 2002. He received the James Payne Academic Award from Crowder in 2002. He was elected to the Crowder College Hall of Fame in 2012. He transferred to Missouri State University, where he finished his collegiate career earning Missouri Valley Conference First-Team Catcher of the Year in 2004. 

He played minor league baseball for the Ozark Ducks in Ozark, Missouri in 2004. The next year he played for the Evansville Otters in Evansville, Indiana.

Kindle graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in 2005 and a master’s degree in Health Promotion and Wellness Management in 2008, both from MSU.

The baseball program under the leadership of Coach Kindle has been built to focus on the student portion of the term student-athlete. He believes it is important for his program to build young men who will be successful throughout their lives, while winning games. Kindle uses baseball as a tool to accomplish these goals.

He resides in Sedalia with his wife Christine and five children Drew, Brooks, Jensen, Boston, and Brock.
