Roadrunners baseball earns postseason accolades

The postseason honors have started coming in for the State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners baseball team. Four student-athletes have received recognition from Region 16. Three student-athletes have received recognition from the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference. These awards are voted on by the coaches in the Region and the Conference.

Sophomore first baseman/third baseman Carter Jenkins has been named to the First Team All-Region 16 Team as an infielder.

Jenkins scored 57 runs as a sophomore, registered 72 hits, 15 home runs, and 51 RBIs. Jenkins had a batting average of .360 with a slugging percentage of .670 and an on-base percentage of 435. Jenkins recorded 30 extra-base hits for the season.

"Carter Jenkins had another good year for us," said Roadrunners Assistant Coach Jordan Dey. "He was a big catalyst in our lineup."

Sophomore pitcher Tait Robertson also earned First Team All-Region 16. Robertson made 10 starts in 13 appearances. Robertson had a 7-3 record with one complete game and 67 innings pitched. He struck out 69 batters and only walked 25. He put together an earned run average of 4.30.

"Tait had a heck of the season for us," said Dey. "He stepped into a starters role when we had him slated as a pitcher who we would use in the back half of our bullpen. He provided a big spark on the mound for us and gave us a chance to win every game. He improved throughout the season."

Sophomore pitcher/third basemen Jayden Little earned Second Team All-Region 16 as a designated hitter. Little had a batting average of .380 with seven home runs and 37 RBIs. He had 62 hits and 33 runs scored to go along with 12 doubles. Little had a slugging percentage of .595 and an on-base percentage of .466. Little had 20 extra-base hits.

"Jayden Little is a player who we were going to use as a pitcher," said Dey. "His arm wasn't healthy enough, but he came in and hit .380 on the year. He and Carter really helped our lineup, they produced a lot of runs for our team that set a school record with 516 hits."

Sophomore outfielder Logan Miller was named to the Region 16 Baseball All-Defensive Team as an outfielder. Miller only made three errors as an outfielder in 104 total chances. Miller had a fielding percentage of .971.

Robertson and Jenkins also earned First Team All-Conference honors in the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference. Little was named to the Second Team.

"We are very proud of our student-athletes who earned postseason recognition," said Dey. "It is a testament to the work they put in both on and off the field."
