Roadrunners complete road trip to Texas

February 13 East Central College at Union

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners lost 11-5 in a single nine inning game to East Central College on Tuesday, February 13 in Union, Missouri.

Freshman middle infielder Sam Paule led the SFCC offense with three doubles and two RBIs. Sophomore first baseman/third baseman Carter Jenkins had two hits, including a triple and a run scored. Sophomore pitcher/third baseman Jayden Little also had two hits, including a double and two RBIs. Little also scored a run. Sophomore outfielder Logan Miller recorded two stolen bases and scored a run. Sophomore outfielder Devyn Wright and freshman first baseman/designated hitter Tripp Johns also scored a run each.

Freshman pitcher Jackson Forck got the start for SFCC. Forck pitched five innings, allowed one run on four hits, and struck out two. Sophomore pitcher Jacob House (0-1) pitched two-thirds of an inning, gave up six runs on three hits, struck out one and walked two. House picked up the loss in relief.

February 15 Dallas College North Lake at Dallas, Texas

SFCC defeated Dallas College North Lake 12-8 in a seven-inning contest in game one in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, February 15. The second game of the doubleheader was suspended with the score tied at three in the top of the ninth inning. The game was resumed on Friday morning, February 16 with SFCC winning 4-3.

In game one, SFCC was led offensively by four hits from Miller, including three runs scored and two RBIs. Freshman outfielder/first baseman Dayne Wimberly recorded three hits, including a double and two RBIs. Jenkins added two hits, including a double and two runs batted in. Johns added a double in the contest. Freshman catcher Malichi Antle had two hits and an RBI. Sophomore middle infielder Ryan Retone recorded two hits and scored twice. Freshman catcher Kyden McMain stole a base in the game. Wright drove in two runs.

Sophomore pitcher Jaden Kolb got the start for SFCC and gave up two runs and struck out one in one-third of an inning. Sophomore pitcher Tait Robertson (1-0) came out of the bullpen for SFCC to pitch 5 2/3 innings, in which he gave up two runs, one earned on four hits and struck out five to pick up the victory.

In game two, Miller had two hits. Retone recorded a hit, a run scored and two RBIs. Freshman middle infielder/outfielder Grant Lambeth had a hit in the game. Freshman catcher Beck Jones had a hit and a run scored. Wright and Paule scored a run each in the game.

Sophomore pitcher Carter DeGondea got the start for SFCC and gave up two hits and struck out four in five innings. Little picked up the win in relief for SFCC. Little (1-1) pitched one inning and struck out one to pick up the win.

February 16 Dallas College North Lake at Irving, Texas

SFCC (6-3) finished the road trip splitting a doubleheader with Dallas College North Lake. SFCC lost the first game 10-9 before bouncing back to win the second game 14-2 in five innings on Friday, February 16 in Dallas, Texas.

In game one sophomore outfielder Sam Russo led SFCC with three hits, including a double and five RBIs. Jenkins hit a home run, drove in two runs, and scored three times. Sophomore outfielder Caleb Casto hit a home run. Miller and Retone each doubled in the game.

Freshman pitcher Chase Schnieders got the start for SFCC and allowed three runs, one earned on three hits and struck out four in 3 2/3 innings. Freshman pitcher/utility player Dalton Miller (0-1) came out of the bullpen to pitch 1/3 of an inning, gave up two runs and walked two to pick up the loss.

In game two, the SFCC offense exploded for 14 runs on 14 hits. Wimberly had two home runs, drove in three runs, and scored three times. Jenkins recorded three hits, drove in a run, and scored twice. Paule had three hits including a double, scored twice and drove in two runs. Antle had three hits and drove in five runs. Retone had two hits and drove in two runs. Miller and Little scored two runs each in the game.

Sophomore pitcher Keith Piepmeier (1-0) pitched a complete game and gave up two runs on five hits and struck out two.
