Roadrunners earn postseason honors

The postseason awards are coming in for the State Fair Community College (SFCC) baseball team. Four student-athletes have earned Missouri Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference honors. The awards are voted on by the coaches in the conference.

Freshman outfielder Logan Miller and freshman utility player Carter Jenkins have been named to the First Team. Freshman outfielder Sam Russo and sophomore pitcher Chase Carson earned Second Team honors.

Miller appeared in all 51 games for SFCC as a freshman. He led the team with 70 hits, 12 doubles, 36 runs scored, 12 stolen bases and 87 total bases. Miller finished second on the team with a .363 batting average and a .436 on-base percentage. He finished tied for second on the team in extra-base hits with 14.

Jenkins appeared in 36 games during his freshman campaign. Jenkins led the team with a .372 batting average, a .469 on-base percentage, and a .570 slugging percentage. He finished second on the team with 33 RBIs, five home runs, and tied for second with 14 extra-bases. He finished third on the team with 31 runs scored and 45 hits.

Russo played in all 51 games for SFCC as a freshman. Russo led the team with 34 RBIs and 26 walks. He finished second on the team with 59 hits and 11 doubles. Russo finished third on the team with a .349 batting average, a .433 on-base percentage, and 75 total bases.

Carson recorded eight starts in 12 appearances with two victories. He tossed a team-high three complete games. He pitched 52 1/3 innings, which ranks second on the team. Carson led the pitching staff with 67 strikeouts and a 4.64 earned run average.

Miller, Jenkins, and sophomore pitcher Zach Buschschulte have each earned Second Team All-Region honors from the coaches in Region 16.

Buschschulte had 13 appearance (tied for the lead) for the pitching staff and led in games started with nine. Buschschulte led with 63 1/3innings pitched in. Buschschulte tossed one complete game to finish second in that category. Buschschulte also finished second with 65 strikeouts. He put together a 5.26 earned run average and finished his sophomore campaign with a 2-3 record.
