Roadrunners pick up come-from-behind victory

April 12 North Central Missouri College at Trenton

State Fair Community College defeated North Central Missouri College 18-15 in come-from-behind fashion in Trenton on Tuesday, April 12. The SFCC offense pounded out 15 hits, including four home runs.

Freshman infielder Conlan Downey led SFCC with four hits, including a double, a home run, five RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore infielder Austin Warkins had a pair of hits, including a home run, three RBI, and four runs. Sophomore outfielder/infielder Jacob McWhirter contributed a home run, one RBI, and two runs scored. Sophomore infielder Brayden McGinnis had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI. Sophomore catcher/outfielder Zach Dillman had two RBI in the game. Sophomore infielder Brandon Stahlman, redshirt freshman catcher Canton Sharp and freshman catcher Benit Thacker each recorded one RBI. Stahlman also scored four times and sophomore infielder Drake Miller scored three runs.

Freshman pitcher Ben Haug got the start for SFCC. Roy Holcomb pitched four innings in relief and allowed four runs (two earned runs) on six hits, and struck out five. Christian Whiting pitched two innings and gave up four runs (zero earned runs) and struck out one. Sophomore pitcher Antonio Escano pitched the final three innings, gave up one hit, and struck out five.
