SFCC ends losing streak

April 5 North Central Missouri College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners defeated the North Central Missouri College Pirates 13-3 in five innings due to the run rule at Liberty Park April 5. The victory snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Roadrunners.

Freshman outfielder Caleb Casto had two hits, including double, scored a pair of runs, and added three RBI. Sophomore infielder Drake Miller had two hits and scored twice. Sophomore infielder Austin Warkins added a double, three RBI, and two runs. Sophomore catcher/outfielder Zach Dillman recorded a double and two RBI. Sophomore infielder Brayden McGinnis had a double, two runs scored, and two RBI. Sophomore outfielder/infielder Jacob McWhirter had two runs. Sophomore infielder Brandon Stahlman had a pair of RBI.

Freshman Hunter Tennison got the start and pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowed three runs on five hits and struck out two. Redshirt freshman pitcher Carson Fewell pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief, gave up one hit, and struck out one.

April 9 Jefferson College at Hillsboro

SFCC split a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader winning  game one 7-6 before dropping game two 14-3 in Hillsboro April 9.

In game one, Dillman had three hits, including a double and a home run and a team-high three RBI. Warkins had a pair of hits, including a double, an RBI and three runs scored. Stahlman contributed a hit and two RBI.

Freshman Chase Carson got the start and pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits and struck out seven. Christian Whiting pitched 1 1/3 innings gave up one hit, an unearned run, and struck out three. Sophomore pitcher Antonio Escano pitched the final 1 1/3 innings, gave up one hit, struck out three and walked two.

In game two, the SFCC offense was held to three runs on three hits. Sophomore outfielder Zeke Henson hit a home run. Sophomore catcher Hamilton Anderson also hit a home run and recorded two RBI. Stahlman scored the other run for SFCC. Freshman infielder Conlan Downey had the other hit for the Roadrunners.

Sophomore pitcher Roy Holcomb got the start on the mound for SFCC. Holcomb pitched one inning, gave up eight runs on five hits, and struck out one.

April 10 Jefferson College at Sedalia

SFCC (14-20) lost a pair of Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference games to Jefferson College 20-3 in five innings in game one and 22-8 in seven innings in game two at Liberty Park April 10.

In game one, sophomore infielder Miller had a hit and a run scored. Freshman catcher Benit Thacker hit a home run and recorded one RBI. Stahlman had a hit and two RBI.

Freshman pitcher Jack Lawton got the start and pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up nine runs (eight earned runs) on nine hits, and struck out two.

In game two, McWhirter hit a grand slam for the Roadrunners in the bottom of the first inning. Warkins also hit a home run, registered an RBI, and scored two runs. Miller recorded a double and two runs scored. McGinnis had a home run and scored twice.

Tennison got the start and pitched two-thirds of an inning and gave up six runs (one earned run) on four hits.
