Roadrunners continue season

March 28 Crowder College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners dropped a pair of Region 16 games to sixth-ranked Crowder College by scores of 9-1 and 14-1 in seven innings on March 28 at Liberty Park Stadium.

SFCC offense recorded one run on five hits in game one. Sophomore infielder Brayden McGinnis hit a home run in the game, one RBI and one run. Sophomore infielder Austin Warkins, sophomore catcher/outfielder Zach Dillman, sophomore outfielder/infielder Jacob McWhirter, and sophomore catcher Hamilton Anderson each had a hit.

Sophomore pitcher Antonio Escano got the start. Escano pitched five innings, allowed five runs (one earned) on eight hits. Redshirt freshman pitcher Carson Fewell pitched two innings, allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits. SFCC committed six errors.

In game two, SFCC was held to just one run on two hits. Sophomore infielder Brandon Stahlman had a hit and an RBI. Sophomore outfielder Zeke Henson had a hit and one run. SFCC committed four errors.

Freshman pitcher Jack Lawton got the start and pitched three innings, allowed six runs (three earned) on eight hits.

March 29 Kansas City Kansas Community College at Kansas City, Kansas

SFCC dropped a 7-3 game to 19th ranked Kansas City Kansas Community College on March 29 in Kansas City, Kansas.

Freshman pitcher Ben Haug had a pair of hits, including a home run and an RBI. McWhirter had a hit and a pair of RBI. Warkins had a hit and one run. Stahlman also scored a run. Dillman and freshman catcher Benit Thacker each had a hit.

Freshman pitcher Hunter Tennison got the start and pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and struck out two. Freshman pitcher Garret Lampert came out of the bullpen to pitch 2 1/3 innings, gave up two unearned runs on two hits and struck out two. Freshman pitcher Austin Droege pitched one inning, allowed one run on one hit to finish the game.

April 2 Mineral Area College at Sedalia

SFCC (12-17) dropped a pair of Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference games 4-3 and 7-4 to Mineral Area College at Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field on April 2.

In game one, SFCC was held to just four hits. Warkins contributed two hits and one run. Dillman and Henson each had one hit. McWhirter had two RBI. McGinnis scored a pair of runs. Stahlman also scored.

Freshman pitcher Chase Carson got the start and went four innings, gave up one unearned run on five hits, walked five, and struck out three. Sophomore pitcher Roy Holcomb came out of the bullpen to pitch three innings, gave up unearned three runs and struck out five.

In game two, Warkins had a pair of hits, including a home run, and one RBI. Dillman recorded a double and an RBI. Sophomore infielder Drake Miller also had a double and a run. McGinnis hit a home run and added two RBI.

Escano got the start and pitched five innings, allowed five runs on eight hits, and struck out seven.
