SFCC splits four games

February 26 Highland Community College-Kansas at Versailles

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners fell 8-4 to Highland Community College-Kansas in the first game of a split a doubleheader at Versailles on Saturday, February 26. The doubleheader was originally scheduled to be played in Sedalia, but was moved due to weather.

SFCC was led off offensively by sophomore infielder Brayden McGinnis with a pair of hits, including a home run. Sophomore catcher/outfielder Zach Dillman hit a home run and drove in two runs. Freshman catcher Benit Thacker hit a home run in the game.

Freshman pitcher Chase Carson got the start for SFCC. Carson pitched three innings, allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out five. Carson was given the loss.

February 26 John Wood Community College at Versailles

SFCC shut out John Wood Community College 3-0 in the second game of a doubleheader at Versailles on Saturday, February 26.

Sophomore infielder/outfielder Jacob McWhirter had two hits, including a double. Sophomore catcher Hamilton Anderson hit a home run and drove in two runs. Sophomore outfielder Zeke Henson drove in a run.

Sophomore Antonio Escano went the distance on the mound for the Roadrunners. Escano allowed only two hits, struck out 12 and walked four.

February 27 John Wood Community College at Versailles

The Roadrunners lost to John Wood Community College 13-1 in the first game of a split doubleheader at Versailles that was originally scheduled to be played in Sedalia on Sunday, February 27.

Freshman infielder Conlan Downey led the Roadrunners with a pair of hits. Dillman had a double and an RBI. Henson doubled and scored.

Sophomore pitcher Andrew McLaughlin got the start. McLaughlin pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowed 10 runs (three earned) and struck out six. McLaughlin was given the loss.

February 27 Rock Valley College at Versailles

SFCC (6-6) got the offense going in game two of a split doubleheader and defeated Rock Valley College 16-6 in Versailles on Sunday, February 27.

Dillman led the team with three hits, including a home run and two RBI. Dillman scored three times. Henson had two hits, including a home run, two runs, and an RBI. Sophomore infielder Austin Warkins had two hits, including a double and two runs. McWhirter had a pair of hits. McGinnis had two hits and two runs. Anderson hit a home run, a double, and three RBI. Anderson also scored three times. Freshman outfielder Caleb Casto had a double and two RBI. Sophomore outfielder Rylee Mabe hit a home run and drove in three runs. Mabe also scored twice.

Sophomore pitcher Roy Holcomb got the start and pitched 4.1 innings. Holcomb gave up five runs on four hits and struck out five.
